Nato a Venezia
The Cosmopolitan Chicken Crossbreeding Project is the development of an idea by Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen concerning the exploration of biological and cultural diversity. The Venetian event, Nato a Venezia (Born in Venice), is an installation where the protagonist is the 15th generation of the CCP, Mechelse Fayoumi, born in Venice. Palazzo Loredan for the occasion was turned into an laboratory, where art and science interact.
The communication project for this installation, comprising explanatory panels, brochure and catalogue, therefore focused on the dialogue between art and science. A sectioned egg, clearly referring to the place where crossbreeding experimentation takes place, is the background of the image where hexagons, the shape of molecular structural formulas, but also the symbol of the organic thought , are adopted to schematize the complexity of Vanmechelen's project. Arranged across the sectioned egg, couples of hexagons are linked to describe the border-free crossbreeding.
The types chosen for the lettering, express the co-existence in the installation of the experimental atmosphere of a 19th laboratory and the highly topical issues the work rises.
